Dawn Turner Designs
Mad About Glass! Dawn is an artist working with kiln formed glass. Since graduating from Derby in 2010, Dawn has been exploring a variety of techniques and ideas, developing her style into a range of handmade and unique art and gifts for homes and interiors. She also loves to share her passion, knowledge and experience by offering workshops in fusing.
Alongside her studio practice, Dawn also works with schools and community groups; local festivals, after school art clubs, brownie groups, day care patients and so on. She enjoys finding ways and methods that mean all can participate, no matter what their age or ability. She believes passionately that everybody should have the opportunity to have a go at arts, crafts – to be creative. More recently, Dawn has been developing ‘Glass On The Go’ – where she brings glass taster workshops out to you!
In the last ten years, Dawn has worked on site specific art and has two large artworks on permanent display at Kirk Hallam Community Academy. She has worked with most local schools in one capacity or another, whether it be for Erewash Festival of Light Winter Solstice or Chinese New Year, or a series of special “fossils”. She participated on the AA2A artist residency programme at Derby University. exploring photogram techniques. Dawn has been part of several exhibitions, including the last two Contemporary Glass Society shows during the International Festival of Glass. In 2017, Dawn took part in a residency at Erewash Museum, exploring an item in their collection and in late 2018 had a solo exhibition.
