About Dawn
Dawn studied a BA (Hons) in Crafts at the University of Derby, graduatiing in 2010. After more than 20 years working in administration and retail environments, she followed her heart and returned to education.
After a year on the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at Castle College, Nottingham, she was invited back to teach the NOCN Introduction to Glass whilst still studying herself. Finding that she enjoyed sharing her passion for glass, Dawn also ran workshops at Long Eaton Art Room and assisted on schools training days at university.
Shortly after completing the degree show, Dawn was offered a space at Shed 2 Studios in Ilkeston where she has continued to grow her business. From there, she now offers fusing workshops, whilst exploring techniques and developing new ideas. Alongside her glass practice, Dawn works with community groups and schools. In 2011 she was an artist in residence at the MILE Club Project in Long Eaton and in 2012 completed a commission project with KHCTSC students to design, make and install the Olympic Legacy Wall for their new sports building.
Dawn can draw on her experience in previous roles when working on projects, bringing effective communication and organisational skills. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with others, and helping students explore their ideas and potential. Read some feedback comments about her classes here.
