Workshops

Dawn has over fifteen years of experience of teaching glass fusing workshops; this in both a college and an art room setting and people enjoy her classes.  See the FEEDBACK page to find out what others have said. We can now offer glass workshops at the studio in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

Here are some of the courses available:

Glass Artist’s Studio Experience Day (Open Session)

Experience a day working in a genuine artist’s studio.

This is not a classroom setting, you will spend the day in Dawn’s own workshop, amongst all the tools and equipment she uses daily. Create your own unique and unusual gifts, jewellery, and decorations as you explore the world of kiln-fired glass art.

During our one-day workshops, you will learn how to cut and layer glass, working with both clear and coloured glass and accessories, as well as variety of decorative techniques such as inclusions and bas-relief.  Throughout the day, Dawn will demonstrate as well as help you design and make your own glasswork, which can be used to make pendants, earrings, sun catchers, coasters, a bowl and much more.  At the end of the course, you will finish up with a variety of pieces that will be fired in the studio for collection at a later date.

**PLEASE NOTE THIS COURSE REQUIRES AT LEAST THREE PEOPLE TO GO AHEAD,  THEREFORE I CANNOT GUARANTEE IT WILL RUN UNTIL ENOUGH BOOKINGS ARE CONFIRMED – I WILL GIVE AT LEAST ONE WEEK NOTICE**

You will see available dates when you click on the booking link

Glass Artist’s Studio Experience Day (Private Booking)

Course content as above, but it’s a fixed price workshop for up to three people (more can be added at cost) – only you and your group are there, and you select your own date by mutual agreement.  Request dates in link

Pick & Mix Glass Fusing Taster Session (three options)

On our taster sessions, all of the glass you used is pre-cut. You have ready to go base glass, and you get to design and decorate your pieces with a variety of colourful glass frit, stringer and accessories. Choose from a variety of makes, including suncatchers, Christmas decorations, freestanding waves and more.

A great opportunity to try out a bit of glass fusing! The focus is on having a relaxed and easy going session, but a great opportunity to meet like minded people if you’re on your own.  Many people find them relaxing, often booked as a way to spend some quality time with friends or family

Suitable for those who perhaps cannot commit to a full day, can only get in the evenings or who are nervous of the thought of cutting glass. Many people come back time and again on these sessions, sometimes moving on to full days,

COMMUNITY GROUPS

As well as teaching warm glass techniques, Dawn can demonstrate and lead workshops; a variety of craft projects,  we can offer both full days and short sessions. Recent workshops have included decorating window hangings with younger children, lantern making, printing techniques and more.  Dawn can use her university experience of the ‘adaptive design’ process.  Wwe can use this to encourage and facilitate groups towards developing a piece of work or project themselves; generating ideas, problem solving and giving guidance on methods and techniques.

Please get in touch to discuss your workshop ideas.
